Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome & Repetitive Strain Injuries (Fingers,
Hands, Wrists Elbows)
 |
when caused by recreational
or occupational activities requiring repetitive or static
flexion of the fingers and wrists against resistance, awkward
wrist angles, vibration, temperature extremes, or site-specific
stress, can often be prevented. Even
if symptoms have already exhibited themselves, in most cases,
they can be alleviated with the proper stretch/exercise regimen.
When used regularly as directed, FLEXTEND® lengthens
the short, restrictive, overdeveloped muscle groups (the
flexors) and fascia that have lost their original range of
motion due to activities that require repetitive and/or static
flexion. At the same time, FLEXTEND® strengthens and
conditions the opposing weak, underdeveloped muscle groups
(the extensors). By creating a balance between the muscle
and tendon structures in the arm and hand, you can often
greatly reduce or eliminate the abnormal pressures within
and surrounding the finger, hand, wrist and elbow structures,
allowing the body's natural healing processes to function.
University and Private Testing has shown
that the FLEXTEND® stretch and exercise programs can
completely alleviate or greatly reduce the symptoms of pain,
numbness, loss of strength, in many individuals suffering
with recreational or occupationally-induced Repetitive Strain
injuries, including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
People who already have even moderate-to-severe
symptoms caused by Repetitive Strain injuries have used FLEXTEND® with
great success. Many users have reported that their symptoms
have been totally eliminated in as little as 2-3 weeks and
used successfully for post-surgery rehabilitation. (By Individuals,
Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Massage Therapists,
M.D's, and Surgeons.) Those who have used the program for
post-operative therapy report being able to return to work
with full levels of strength and mobility in about half the
time normally associated with surgical release of the transverse
carpal ligament. Many individuals that have suffered from
hand/wrist fractures have also used FLEXTEND® once they
have been removed from a cast to regain strength and mobility
in the affected area. It is very important that your doctor
authorize this or any other exercise program for post-operative
use.
The FLEXTEND® program itself does not
heal the damaged tissues, but allows the body to heal itself,
as it was designed to, by reducing the impingement of structures
that were creating abnormal pressure gradients between the
various anatomical structures inside the finger, wrist and
elbow joints, thus allowing normal vascularity to return.
In most cases, people who have already exhibited symptoms
of a Repetitive Strain Injury, including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
will notice a change in their condition in less than 2-weeks.
Within thirty to ninety days, depending on how well the individual's
body responds to exercise in general, the symptoms will either
be in total remission or will have been reduced to a great
enough degree to allow the person to go about their daily
activities in a normal fashion.
Although there are
other conditions, such as arthritis, pregnancy and obesity,
that can cause the development of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,
the FLEXTEND® programs are
designed for Recreational and Occupational-Induced Repetitive
Strain injuries that are caused by the unavoidable repetitive
and/or static motions.
Repetitive Strain
Injuries - Complete Upper Extremity Training (Fingers,
Hands, Wrists, Elbow, Upper Arms, Shoulders, Chest and Back)
The FLEXTEND®-AC is used for Performance
Enhancement, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Rotator Cuff Injuries,
Joint Instability, Postural Disorders, Impingement Syndrome
and many other upper extremity disorders by providing more
than 50 therapeutic upper extremity exercises in one easy
to use product.
The FLEXTEND®-AC corrects the strength
/ length imbalances of the entire upper extremity, but specifically
focuses its effects on the shoulder girdle due to its complex
structure and vulnerability to injury. Creating strength
equality between the muscle groups within and around the
shoulder helps to reduce the impingement of underlying nerves
and blood vessels that are often the root cause of painful
and debilitating symptoms.
FLEXTEND®-AC also targets many other
specific areas of the upper extremity, utilizing a variety
of physician and therapist recommended exercises and training
programs for the fingers, wrists, elbows, forearms, biceps,
triceps, chest and back.
FLEXTEND®-AC is portable, inexpensive,
simple to use and eliminates all gripping motion, reducing
unnecessary stress to the hands, which has been shown to
cause further muscle imbalances and injury - Perfect for
those suffering with osteoarthritis!
